Le Musée Départemental de l'Auberge Ganne

L'auberge Ganne, the "Mecca" of the Barbizon saga where all the painters used to meet, has become the Musée de l'École de Barbizon.
Its collection is made up of works painted or engraved by the old masters and lesser known masters of the 19th century. Not only that, the walls and original furniture of l'Auberge Ganne still bear engraved, painted and drawn images, illustrating the drinking evenings spent by the group known as "peint' à Ganne" with superb accounts of their lives spent in Barbizon.

Théodore Rousseau's Studio

Rousseau's house-studio, an annex of the museum, has recently been renovated.
It offers a general review of the painter's life and in his studio: an exhibition of original works (themed according to the exhibition periods).

Jean-François Millet's House-Studio

An interesting feature of the town, the external appearance of Jean-François Millet's house-studio is practically the same as it was during the last century. Today, Anne-Marie Meunier is the owner and continues to skilfully perpetuate the history of the Barbizon painters. Here you will rediscover the ambiance of an artist's house in charming surroundings...
